News Report: Week 1
The evening news report is hard to miss, with the giant TV screens on some of the larger buildings displaying the report so that even those without a TV or phone to watch on can stay informed. Anyone walking, stuck in traffic or taking the train will likely see the broadcast at least once, if not twice as they head home for the day.
"In tonight's top stories, the trend of bad luck in the mining sector continues as there was yet another explosion in the Quarry. Witnesses reported seeing men covered in black and white spandex wearing masks and ran for cover. Multiple explosions shook the area, but there were no reported casualties, and only minor injuries.
Officials are advising motorists to avoid central downtown and to take public transportation when at all possible as an excess amount of cars on the roads caused yet another major traffic jam. This was compounded by a scuffle between police and an unidentified man that witnesses claim was shooting acid from his hands. Other witnesses claim it was not a man, but a monster, but official police report state it was most likely someone in a costume.
In other news, Specialty Reconstruction Services Group reports that the damage caused by what was most likely a gas explosion on a filming studio lot has been mostly repaired. Overnight work will be required to finish the job, however, and residents in the area are advised to wear earplugs and blindfolds to avoid interrupted sleep.
Cafe owners are putting out a plea to local residents to place be careful when passing by their establishments. Multiple reports of plastic patio furniture being destroyed by what some have called overzealous neighborhood watch efforts have lead to some cafes giving up on outdoor serving all together.'
While the news broadcast may seem rather innocuous, there is one decidedly odd feature. In the upper right hand corner, the placard that shows the time and date seems... strange. The date itself is oddly unreadable, despite looking like it should be able to be read easily. In fact, most people seem to be able to read it just fine, but when they say it aloud, it simply can't be heard. Or at least, not by anyone who can't see the text on the screen....
Meanwhile, back at the Quarry, it would seem that the mooks who'd caused the day's explosion have returned, undeterred to finish the next stage in their big plan. What that plan is is anyone's guess, but whatever it is, it's not likely going to be good. In either definition of the word.

oh please don’t be XD
“Hajime-!”
He reels back, nearly tripping over a dog. Rubs his jaw, and stares at his favourite bug. “I didn’t know you had an obscene caller, and it wasn’t me!”

Re: 8D
Wow, he's pissed.
"Ten years?" Kenzaki asks, utterly lost. He drags a hand back through his hair, no doubt making it stand on end. "Ten years of what? Come on, Hajime, don't be like that! I haven't called you for days!"
you know what, now he's from a few days after the drama cd
other than wanting to punch a thing, Kenzaki?lmao of course he is
“Is it Joker? Are you having trouble suppressing him? You usually only get this pissy when you’re worried you’ve scared little Amane-chan.”
Probably way too blunt and tactless. Hajime doesn’t exactly like being reminded of scaring Amane, and he’s already hit Kenzaki.
only the finest coincidences
like meatloaf through a straw, so are the days of their lives
"What the hell are you talking about? She's only about, what, four? Six? Maybe nine. But she's not in high school, Hajime!"
..................wait, what.
He exhales roughly, intense concern starting to creep up his spine. "What year is it?"

"It's 2004," he says blankly, eventually. "It's not 2015. What the f- hell is happening?"
Hajime's scowling just like always, well, when he's scowling, which when Kenzaki thinks about it is quite often. But not constantly. Anyway. He looks like he usually does whne he scowls. He doesn't look eleven years older. Which - which makes sense.

There's a long pause. "What were you doing before we ran into each other?"
no subject
Hated yourself for it. Shut yourself down even harder.
"...you weren't happy about it. Uh, I have to pick up milk for Kotarou, too. You?"
no subject
...how much should he even say about that, anyway?
no subject
Hajime looks whole. He looks normal.

"That's good. I've tried not to lose hope, and now I know I don't need to."
Hajime's tense, but Hajime's usually tense, right?
no subject
Or at least, he kind of shakes himself back into some kind of response there, fine, fine, he's fine. "Yeah. You...you were always good at finding it, even when no one else could."
no subject
Hajime is very tense.
.........
Kenzaki takes a step back, running a hand through his hair, as cold rakes up his spine. "'You were'? Am I dead, or something? Hajime."
no subject
no subject
That's not exactly the answer he wanted to hear. The way Hajime says 'dead' is very precise, like Kenzaki isn't dead, but it's something else bad.
"That's something," he says cautiously. "What, then? Why are you talking about me like I am dead?"
no subject
no subject
To... to fix everything, he thinks. He did that. To fix everything. And Hajime's alive, and well enough and aware enough to punch someone in the face, so that's....
"That's good, then."
