Seeing one or two food carts sharing a small park isn't that uncommon, but today, for some reason, one small, rather central park area appears to be host to at least 7 different vendors, some rather familiar looking. For the hungry wanderer, there's a choice of oden, udon, ramen, takoyaki and taiyaki (though those two carts seemed to be manned by individuals that seem more interested in arguing with each other than selling their wares and may rope a passerby into their argument over which is better,) a much calmer takoyaki seller, a couple selling donuts, and a man selling ice cream.

If there was one thing that Eiji was good at, it was pointlessly researching things he didn't understand and try to fix too many things that were broken.

He wasn't usually this cynical. But Tachibana was counting on him to find some kind of answers behind what brought them there--whether it was trying to figure out if the Genm Corporation really was from his world and behind the tech that powered Emu and his friends, or if it was where all of these strange heroes and monsters were coming from.

He had also failed to bring back Ankh, and that was a big factor in it. It had only been about a month ago that he'd dealt with Foundation X's cloned Greeed and gotten his hopes up seeing Ankh's respond to their shared memories and the broken Medal enter. And it hadn't been enough. The future where Ankh was still hadn't connected to him yet.

"I'm just going to let everyone down, aren't I?" he asked himself.

Gai is well aware that he stands out like a sore thumb on this...Earth, or whatever planet he's ended up on. Still, what's a warrior of light to do except explore and try to figure out what's going on?

He's made his way through parts of the city, but it feels weirdly like someone is watching him. He can't pinpoint anyone in particular, but it's...unsettling. Kind of like the way he could always "hear" someone in trouble.

Every so often, he finds a place to stop and looks around.

In a secluded, shadowy, disused location, the select few of a newly formed organization come to meet.... What dark and--

"Oh for gods sake, do you have to narrate every damned time?"

"Look, I'm trying to build the atmosphere here! How are we to be proper about this if we don't even go that far?"

"Who cares about being proper!" a third figure, noticeably smaller than the first interrupted. "I wanna know who's gonna be fighting this week!"

"Ug, seriously? We don't even have everyone here yet!"

"So???"

"He does have a point, you know..."

"Oh, don't you start too."

"Hey, I'm just saying..."

"Fight! Fight! Fight!"

"All right, all right! Eesh! Make your report already!"

There was the distinct sound of glasses being adjusted, a glint of light reflecting in the darkened room. "Currently over 25 individuals of note have been recorded. Not all of them are of significance, however, as a few... supporting individuals seem to have been connected as well. Of these, the Rider franchise seems to be the most represented, with Ultraman coming in second. More research is needed to determine how to create connections in a more targeted way before phase two of our operation can begin."

"And I can fight them!!" the younger voice piped in excitedly.

A deep sigh from the glassed figure answered. "After they fight each other first," he corrected. "We've been over this..."

"Ha! You just think they need to be softened up first, don't you?! Don't you believe in my power??!"

"... don't make me answer that."

"Hey!!"

"And that's enough of that, I'd think... Fade to black, everybody!"

"...drama queen."

Any Displaced individual prone to visions, premonitions or other plot sensing type skills may have had a variation on the above scene in a dream, vision or just felt like someone was watching them. Even those without a plot speaking skill may start getting a strange feeling of being watched when they're out in public....

Not that it will be foremost on their mind very long, as suddenly, every single TV screen or similar nearby flashes white, before a short clip begins to play:

Hajime has no idea what's going on here and, surprising no one, is rather angry about it. Kenzaki's here, but...from the past? Awkward. Maddeningly so. When there are three people on the planet that you truly care about, and when one of them shows up out of nowhere after ten years only those ten years haven't happened for him, you start to worry quite a bit about the other two.

It is with this thought in mind that he makes his way back home to the Jacaranda--if he can even find the Jacaranda. He's almost surprised when it is right where he left it, looking much as he'd just left it. (They'd repainted the sign recently, and it still looked good.) He took a deep breath as he went inside, looking for his...family? Even now, after all this time, the word felt funny.

Regardless, he has to check in on Amane and Haruka, to make sure they're alright in...whatever is going on here. To try to figure out if he's dealing with a nine-year-old or a nineteen-year-old. And...

...they're not here. He's left the door to the Jacaranda wide open, and he's searching the restaurant, but it's very obvious that the grumpy guy in the trenchcoat is the only one here. Quick, someone distract him before he flips a table in frustration.

Eiji had come across the app almost by accident, when he saw a sign at a local Bubbly Coffee, saying that anyone who was part of "Team Atomic" would get 10% off a drink. And a little curiosity led to him finding Kaiju Go!, the new AR game that was apparently popular in this dimension.

He was now fiddling with the app, trying to catch a two-headed firebird monster on his screen.

"Come on, just get in the ball!"

It is not going well.

Sometime during the week, all those who have become aware of the strange overlapping of worlds and the distortion of time receive a link either via text or email.

The link, when followed, brings them to a page that looks an awful lot like a Dreamwidth post appears to be some sort of forum or open blog post. On the top of the page in giant, glittering animated text is a single, overly excited word:

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Under that lays a simple form to post messages. Those more technologically inclined will find it simple to create an account, upload an avatar, give themselves a proper username and upload images. Those not so inclined will find their messages labeled with a number that stays the same for every post they make from their phone or computer.

Who set up this forum? And how did they get your contact information? That requires a little more digging...

The evening news report is hard to miss, with the giant TV screens on some of the larger buildings displaying the report so that even those without a TV or phone to watch on can stay informed. Anyone walking, stuck in traffic or taking the train will likely see the broadcast at least once, if not twice as they head home for the day.

"In tonight's top stories, the trend of bad luck in the mining sector continues as there was yet another explosion in the Quarry. Witnesses reported seeing men covered in black and white spandex wearing masks and ran for cover. Multiple explosions shook the area, but there were no reported casualties, and only minor injuries.

Officials are advising motorists to avoid central downtown and to take public transportation when at all possible as an excess amount of cars on the roads caused yet another major traffic jam. This was compounded by a scuffle between police and an unidentified man that witnesses claim was shooting acid from his hands. Other witnesses claim it was not a man, but a monster, but official police report state it was most likely someone in a costume.

In other news, Specialty Reconstruction Services Group reports that the damage caused by what was most likely a gas explosion on a filming studio lot has been mostly repaired. Overnight work will be required to finish the job, however, and residents in the area are advised to wear earplugs and blindfolds to avoid interrupted sleep.

Cafe owners are putting out a plea to local residents to place be careful when passing by their establishments. Multiple reports of plastic patio furniture being destroyed by what some have called overzealous neighborhood watch efforts have lead to some cafes giving up on outdoor serving all together.'

While the news broadcast may seem rather innocuous, there is one decidedly odd feature. In the upper right hand corner, the placard that shows the time and date seems... strange. The date itself is oddly unreadable, despite looking like it should be able to be read easily. In fact, most people seem to be able to read it just fine, but when they say it aloud, it simply can't be heard. Or at least, not by anyone who can't see the text on the screen....

Meanwhile, back at the Quarry, it would seem that the mooks who'd caused the day's explosion have returned, undeterred to finish the next stage in their big plan. What that plan is is anyone's guess, but whatever it is, it's not likely going to be good. In either definition of the word.

"Why..."

Juggler was standing in the middle of the Toei parking lot, shoulders shaking as a invitation fell from his fingertips.

"Why...? Why am I suddenly here...?"

"Hey you okay buddy?" asked a nearby worker who was then backhanded into a truck.

"My lady... we were supposed to... to..."

Mists gathered around him, the teltale energy of a Shadow from Kaiju Girls creeping into his heart flaring up as his eyes glowed red.

"My Ojousama..." he said darkly, drawing his katana. "We were supposed to have COFFEE AT DAWN!"

And with that, he sliced out with his sword.

Something in the distance exploded as he stormed out angrily, flaring an angry black mist as his eyes glowed red as he roared loudly like a kaiju, scattering indistinct workers who looked like little outlines. "OOOOOOOOJOUUUUUSAMAAAAAAAA!" He shrieked in despair, slashing twice with kamitachi, destroying whole buildings.
