If there was one thing that Eiji was good at, it was pointlessly researching things he didn't understand and try to fix too many things that were broken.
He wasn't usually this cynical. But Tachibana was counting on him to find some kind of answers behind what brought them there--whether it was trying to figure out if the Genm Corporation really was from his world and behind the tech that powered Emu and his friends, or if it was where all of these strange heroes and monsters were coming from.
He had also failed to bring back Ankh, and that was a big factor in it. It had only been about a month ago that he'd dealt with Foundation X's cloned Greeed and gotten his hopes up seeing Ankh's respond to their shared memories and the broken Medal enter. And it hadn't been enough. The future where Ankh was still hadn't connected to him yet.
"I'm just going to let everyone down, aren't I?" he asked himself.
